I didn't realize what that meant until he told me his mother used to hit him. DH's fear now is that Haole Hattie would treat our kids that way. He said that the way HH was holding LO under the shower reminded him of the way she used to treat BIL, her scapegoat. He told me that BIL took the brunt of HH's abuse, but when she'd hit DH it was usually because he was protecting BIL. He didn't want our LO to have to live life like that if HH stays in our lives. FIL did come over to say goodbye, but he brought HH since they were on their way to the airport.

The restaurant/bar was a short stroll where you could get good food and a drink at very reasonable prices. AMR is surrounded by woods and wildlife. Unfortunately we didn't get long enough to stay and explore all it had to offer but if the chance arises to visit again then we would certainly stay here for longer. Around 20k from town up a well maintained track/road the Alpine resort is a great place to unwind. The chalets are well equipped. WiFi in the chalets is a little flakey and not available in the restaurant but when surrounded but such beauty who needs the internet. Rowing boats and kayaks are available. There are 3 trails within the complex for you to enjoy. I can recommend the pancakes for breakfast. Staff were very friendly.
