IN ADDITION… he has a hill named after him on the trail, he literally DIED on the mountain, and he is known as the wamaruru! Bottom line… if you pick any other "guide company", you're wrong. Okay, so there we were… trying to decide which company to guide us up the mountain. After a bunch of research, reading review, etc. we decided on Trek Mount Kenya. Ben helped with our itinerary, helped us pick the right route, and gave us feedback on what to expect, what to pack, and essentially how not to die. :-P The moment we met Ben, I knew we had made the right decision. Ben and his driver, Mike, met us at our hotel. They made it there before we had even made it downstairs. They took our bags to the car and off we went! The vehicle they drove us in was a nice and modern vehicle – unlike many of the other vehicles we were in while in Kenya. It was a four-hour drive so comfort was crucial and this was perfect. Half-way to the mountain we made a stop for some food and coffee. It was a safe experience, the food was excellent, and along the way we were able to ask any questions we wanted.
