Right now it feels like my only options are to bend over and take it or withdraw and try again next year. Sorry for sounding so grumpy, but I can just feel university sliding away from me after I've been looking forward to it for so long.

There are a lot of rules I don't like, such as internet restrictions and general restrictions. You need to share a toilet etc: I could do that with friends, but I don't want to risk it with strangers. I am an extremely clean and well mannered person, and I wouldn't want to have to deal with people living with me all the time. I am very sociable so it's not like if I don't live with someone I won't make any friends. Would renting something outside of uni be a better choice? And lastly, how are the girls over there in Scotland:)? Thanks!

Hello. I don't know if this is the right section, i posted in self but hey, I am a new redditor please forgive me. I am an Italian student finishing his IB diploma (in English), and I want to study abroad, since unfortunately our university system is heavily corrupt and not as good as it once was, but I won't get into that. I will soon have to apply, UCAS (many of you will be familiar with that). The thing is, in the whole UK, there is nothing that particularly attracts me to England. I have seen there are great universities in Scotland as well (will be applying to Aberdeen, Edinburh and Glasgow), and having only heard good things about it (will visit it anyways before going), I thought I might as well apply in Scotland (it is also generally cheaper which is a BIG plus). I have a couple dilemmas: Firstly, how is life in Scotland? How expensive is it? (would appreciate simple examples such as a beer costs X, and buying a pack of chicken breast costs Y where you live) Accomodation. Many people are telling me to go on the campus accomodation, but I have a few reservations about that.

Before I explain, I have searched for my concerns on reddit, just looking to get some more updated information if available. I will be heading to University of Glasgow in Semester 2 (Jan 2020-Early Jun 2020) as an exchange student. Will be heading with at least 3 of us in total but possibly a few more. None of us are freshers that party so we are not big on the partying residences. We are currently looking at Kelvinhaugh St and Student Apartments as our top 2 choices but I have also read that UofG students accomms are overpriced and not worth living in and honestly just a terrible place to live in. With the same price, most recommend a private flat. I have searched for alternate private student residences but mostly are fully booked for the whole academic year(because the agreements are commonly 41/52 weeks) or they do not accept such short term stays (23 weeks). Are there any resources I can look for or personal recommendation to make for UofG student residences or where to search for private accommodations?

Find off-campus housing If you prefer independent living and would like to find off-campus accommodation close to the university, Glasgow offers a wide selection of private student housing – everything from rooms in flats to entire houses. Contact our Accommodation Office for private student housing information and listings. Types of accommodation What type of housing you choose depends on a few factors, including your preference for sharing with friends or living on your own, and whether or not you have a family to house. Shared houses or flats: This is usually the first option for the vast majority of students. You rent a room in a house or flat and share the lounge, bathroom, toilet and kitchen with housemates. If you're an international student, staying in shared accommodation can be a great way for you to experience Glasgow life and improve your language skills. Self-contained flats: This is the ideal accommodation for small families, couples or people who like their own space. The flat should have its own bathroom and kitchen, and a private front door.

If you don't plan on working out regularly, I would recommend private accommodations a hundred times. Please PM me if you need any more help!
