Hey guys, So I'm thinking about creating a 1 or 2 week retreat in Portugal this December for Video game/internet addicts. At the moment we have 2 options. The first is that we all meet up and do volunteer work on an olive farm. We'll get free food and accommodation, plus we'll be in an environment where we have to do a mundane, repetitive, physical task that will help us resensitize our dopamine/reward circuits. Plus, we'll get to spend time with other people who have the same problem we do. We'll have a lot of light hearted fun, but we'll also be able to go deep and talk about our addiction and possibly work through the root cause. The second idea is that we rent an airbnb in the countryside. (I've found one that is €35 per day TOTAL for 12 people, or €3/person per day) If we do this we could focus more on developing healthy habits (such as yoga, running, meditation, working out etc). In either case, it'll be a chance to meet people going through the same struggles we are. We'll also have fun meeting new people and he able to spend a few weeks away from screens and games and the internet while our brains recover.

I'm sorry if everything I'm going to say is sort of unclear but I'll try to express myself as best as possible, I'm a bit nervous and I just know I really need your help. So, I'm a portuguese girl and let's say that I haven't had an easy life since I was a child, and I'm completely sick of it. I had a lot of serious health problems because I dealt with some trauma due to my mother's alcohol problems, bullying I suffered at school when I was younger, abusive relationships and so on... Obviously my health couldn't take it and I've been in a very dark place in my head and I decide to ask for help at 18. I went to the best clinics, I was medicated and I did therapy practically every day. I've been feeling better for about two years now and, fortunetly, I no longer need medication and therapy every single day and, about that, I am very satisfied and happy with the journey I was able to take and grateful for having sought help at that time. However, the way I live (really toxic family) and the wrong people around me (people with habits, mindsets and lifestyles I don't identify with) I feel like I'm getting worse, and I don't want to go back to feel how I felt in the past, I was very close to giving up on my life and I know the potential I have and how much I want to be happy... Jeez, I want that so bad.

I was renting a place, working at a bar making a good wage in a beautiful seaside town when I met a guy, everything was great, we lived together but when we broke up I found it too painful to stay and left England to work on farms in Portugal.
